Lord's Acre Sale
posted on October 02
Mt. Zion East United Methodist Church is hosting its annual Lord's Acre Sale on Saturday, October 26, 2019. The event includes a full turkey and ham dinner, complete with corn grown by Mt. Zion members, a variety of delicious side dishes, and an abundance of pies. Food is served from 11 am to 1 pm.
Following the meal, the live auction kicks off at 1 pm. The auction begins outside with items such as firewood, feed, farm supplies, and some years, puppies and kittens! The auction then moves indoors and is held in two parts: the first to support the youth program and the second to support the church. This year, in addition to Mt. Zion's annual "friendship quilt" made by the women of the congregation, an Underground Railroad quilt pieced by "Grandma Jane" Boulton will be auctioned off. Other auction items include many homemade crafts and foods, from jam and pimento cheese to pieces of art and handcrafted linens and clothing. A free-will offering is suggested for the meal. Mt. Zion is celebrating 150 years of ministry in 2019!
Mt. Zion East UMC is located in Redman at the intersection of Hwy KK and Nicollet Rd, across from the Redman Conservation Area. From Hwy 63, take Hwy M east from Atlanta and follow the signs to the church. From Hwy 36, take Hwy K north from the ethanol plant, and turn right on Hwy KK.
