District Superintendent

Mi Hyeon Lee
I was born in South Korea and grew up in a Methodist family. My grandmother was the first Christian in my big family, and church was a big part of my life. I felt God’s call for ministry when I was in high school and was active in youth group, young adult ministry and adult ministry in Korea. I earned a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Theology degree from the Methodist Theological Seminary in Seoul, Korea, focusing on pastoral care.

In 1993, I came to the United States. I then went on to earn a Master of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry from Garret Evangelical Seminary, focusing on leadership. I have been in ministry for 24 years at the Missouri Annual Conference and have served Salisbury/Asbury in Chariton County, Antioch UMC and Wesley UMC in Springfield, and Central UMC, and First UMC (North Kansas City) in Kansas City.

‘Love God and love others’ has been my motto throughout my ministries. Love anybody in God’s love no matter who they are, where they came from, and what they have done and how they live. God loves the world, and we participate in God’s mission in the world. I believe when we love people truly, our ministry is joyful and fruitful.

The Bishop appointed me as District Superintendent for the Mid-State District in 2018 and the Mark Twain District in 2021. As I begin my ministry in the Mark Twain District, I look forward to getting to know the churches and pastors as well as having the opportunity to work together to revitalize churches in Christ’s name.

I have a son, Elinton, who lives in Boston, MA, and works at a cancer research institute while pursing medical school. I also have a dog who has been a great companion over the last seven years.

District Superintendent

Robin Bell
Rev. Robin Roderick Bell has a personal mission statement: To create enthusiasm for the learning and the living of the Gospel. She has served churches across the state, mostly along the I-70 corridor - from a rural church in Wellington, Missouri, with its wonderful missions and yearly pig roasts, to First UMC in St. Charles as the first time a woman had been appointed to a church worshipping over 600 in Missouri. Before becoming a DS, she served Grace STL in University City. While she has served on many teams and boards, she was most humbled to be a delegate to the 2012 General Conference. “Being a DS is so wonderful as I get to hear of the very best of how folks are experiencing the presence of God and BEING Jesus in their context.” She lives in the greater St. Louis area. Recently widowed, she enjoys the company of two large dogs, two quiet cats and seeing her KC family on occasion. She is a strong advocate for the intentional faith life, following Jesus and fun.

Executive Assistant

Barbara Buck
Barbara began her ministry in the Mark Twain District in 2001. She is proud to serve the people and churches of the district. Barbara is an active member of the Professional Administrators of the United Methodist Connectional Structure (PAUMCS) and received her certification status in 2011. She and her husband, WR (Dub) have three biological children and seven “children of the heart,” having hosted foreign exchange students from all over the world. Their youngest just graduated from high school and will soon be off to college, making them empty nesters. Barbara is an avid reader, enjoys putting puzzles together, camping and traveling.

Administrative Assistant

LeAnna Lewis
Le Anna has been with the Mark Twain District since 2009 working as the Administrative Assistant. She is also a member of the Professional Administrator of the United Methodist Connectional Structure (PAUMCS). She enjoys interacting with the pastors and admins in the district as well as interacting with those admins from other districts and conference office. Le Anna enjoys working in her garden, reading, spending time with family, relaxing along the mighty Mississippi River with her boyfriend Todd, and spending time with her two cats and three dogs that she lives with out in the country. She has a daughter and granddaughter, who live in Springfield, and son who is a traveling welder.
